2MNO Monaro FM is a voluntary not-for-profit organisation which is proudly run by members of our Monaro community. We began broadcasting in 1995, and today can boast a stable of more than twenty-nine presenters offering a generous selection of music genres and local current affairs to our valued listeners throughout the Monaro, plus National and International coverage via the World-Wide Web.
We currently have approximately fifty dedicated members supporting our *mission to bring great music and accurate local news to the district, and we are always ready to welcome more.

2MNO Monaro FM Community Radio is committed to servicing the Community by providing quality music and local current affairs via our dedicated team of volunteer presenters and technicians. It is our Policy to broadcast responsible and correct information and pleasing musical genres at all times. We believe that good music and local information courtesy of our valued Sponsors and contributors is the right of every listener, and we are dedicated to this process twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
About 2MNO Monaro FM Community Radio
2MNO Monaro FM serves the community of the Monaro and the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales. We have been broadcasting since 1996, from our Studios in both Cooma and Nimmitabel, and all of our presenters and committee members are volunteers from within our community – we have no paid positions within the organisation, and decisions affecting the station are taken completely democratically.
The Monaro Community Radio (MCR) call sign 2MNO, was formed through the perceived need by a group of residents for a radio station which presented alternative radio entertainment to the mainstream broadcasters already operating within the region. Whilst initially we played only country and easy-listening music, the influence of our varied presenters have widened the available choices for listeners, and our programming now covers a broad spectrum of musical genres.
We broadcast twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and our invaluable volunteer presenters deliver their programs at scheduled times throughout each week. We also augment our broadcasts by relaying satellite programs produced through the broader Community Radio Network such as ‘Good Morning Country’ and ‘Midnight Express’.
2MNO raises funds through raffles at various times of the year, e.g. Christmas; attending fetes and market days with its fairy floss, slushie and popcorn machines; subscriptions; by applying for suitable grants; and seeking potential financial supporters. We also invite all community groups and clubs to send us information about your activities or drop it into our Cooma Studio situated at the old Binalong Street shopping centre.
